There is a very short period of time in a person’s life where the world of fantasy and make-believe is often more real than imaginative. Take today’s “Ship Ahoy! Room of the Day”, an over-the-top pirate-inspired kids’ space, including a true-to-life rope bridge and steel-doored jail (sassy siblings beware!). Some may say, this level of decor commitment is impractical and overindulgent; the child is gonna grow out of it in just a few years. Me? I say, “Arrgh to that!” With a room like this, a youngster will be given a lifetime of memories and inspiration to believe in big possibilities…and that’s quite a treasure!

Built mid-ship is a “crows nest” that offers a bird’s eye view of this 6 year-old’s room. At the helm, stands an authentic captain’s wheel.

A knotted rope allows kids to descend into their closet…what a way to pick out your clothes!

Even the adults can’t help themselves from walking this well-contsructed rope bridge.

All photos and room designed by Steve Kuhl of Khul Design Build…Cool!
